Environmental exposure
Repeated material contact, friction, adhesion tendency and geometry that makes cleaning and inspection difficult.
Operating conditions
The review focuses on the actual exposure of Spiral conveyor and material-contact surfaces: duty cycle, temperature changes, moisture or process media, dust or particle movement, vibration, access and shutdown constraints. Where a verified numerical value is unavailable, the condition is kept qualitative.
Problem analysis
Wear and material build-up could not be assessed from hardness alone; adhesion, cleanability and the actual material path also required verification. Inspection should distinguish active defects from stable areas, confirm substrate soundness and cleanliness, and identify edges, welds, joints, low points and restricted-access zones before the repair scope is fixed.
Problem to address
Material slides and compacts along the spiral surface, creating repeated friction and local pressure. Surface roughness, material moisture and geometry also influence build-up, so hardness alone cannot predict performance.
